WHAT MAKES Jersey Strength & Athletics CrossFit DIFFERENT?
CrossFit gyms as a whole are not a part of a chain or franchise. Each gym is individually owned and operated with as many differences between them as the differences you see between the many restaurants you drive past each day. JSA CrossFit, however, is unlike any other gym class, bootcamp, or fitness program. With nine years of full time coaching experience, JSA CrossFit was one of only three CrossFit gyms in 2006 in the entire state of NJ, and is the 180th CrossFit gym to open out of over 13,000 CrossFit gyms around the world currently. Countless hours and many years of coaching experience has made us skilled in helping everyone from the first time CrossFitter to the highly athletic individual looking to change their fitness routine to enhance all areas of their lives.
We incorporate various tools to help our members reach their fitness goals, from nutrition counseling to expert coaching on complex movements. Our program is comprised of Olympic weightlifting, power lifting, kettlebell training, basic gymnastics movements, and metabolic conditioning. Our coaches will provide instruction and progressive introduction to the intensity levels that are inherent in our group class sessions. Our goal is not to sell 500 memberships and hope that people don’t come. Our goal is to provide you with a great fitness experience and help you reach goals that were once thought unattainable. If you are coming from a sedentary background or come to us nursing some injuries and limitations, this will by no means affect your ability to CrossFit. CrossFit is universally scalable to all fitness levels.
JSACF is a TEACHING box and our coaches are eager to teach every time they step on the floor. Our main focus is that all of our athletes, every single time they attend class learn how to move safer, more efficiently and with greater skill whether it is their 1st or 1000th day of training. Our JSACF Trained Instructors complete a 45 hour Internship that includes 3 written/verbal tests before they wear our coach’s shirt. Our instructors are taught how to design skill specific warm ups, teach Points of Performance regarding the exercises being performed that day, and monitor the athletes during the ENTIRE workout. NEVER will you see one of our instructors who are supposed to be leading the class working out with the group. NEVER will you be told to just complete what is on the board. NEVER will you see our coaches more focused on their phone than their athletes. Our experience, our dedication to our clients and our insistence to provide the best coaching around are what make JSACF different from all the other CrossFit gyms out there. HOW DO I GET STARTED?
STEP ONE: Individuals have two options in getting started.
Option 1: FREE TRIAL CLASS
JSACF offers a FREE TRIAL CLASS to individuals interested in getting a taste of what CrossFit has to offer. Our coaches are trained to assist individuals of all levels during their trial class and will scale the workouts to suit each individual’s needs to match their physical ability level. Option 2: PRIVATE LESSON
For individuals who wish to train in a one on one setting as their first taste of CrossFit, JSACF offers private lessons with any of our coaches. Please email us at email@example.com for rates and available times.
STEP TWO: ENROLL IN OUR CLASSES
Currently we are running a special “Local’s Sale” of $50 for the first month. After the first month, classes are $155 a month. This includes unlimited training at JSACF in Manasquan as well as participation in our Open Gym classes. To get the sale rate for the first month, we ask that individuals commit to training for a minimum of two months. After the initial two months, memberships renew on a month to month basis. A driver’s license providing a local residential address is required to qualify for our “Local’s Sale.” For immediate Family Members we offer 10% off 2nd and more family members. DO I HAVE TO BE FIT BEFORE I START CROSSFIT?
No! CrossFit will help create a fit and better you! Our CrossFit classes are designed for the generally active, injury free individual. With that said, most individuals at some point have experienced a nagging previous injury that keeps them from enjoying physically activity to their fullest. Our coaches are trained in scaling workouts to suit all individual needs despite the existence of possible previous injuries. “Scaling” is a word that you will hear frequently here at JSACF. During each class, everyone does the same workout, but that workout will always have several scaling options. This makes it possible for all of us – with our different body types, personal goals and levels of ability – to work alongside one another safely and with intention. We motivate one another, cheer one another on, and sometimes participate in some healthy competition. But, ultimately, every workout is yours alone.
DO YOU HAVE A BEGINNER's CLASS?
To assist new participants in learning the movements of CrossFit efficiently and safely, JSACF offers an Integrated On-Ramp Program. JSACF’s Integrated On-Ramp program allows beginners to be a part of the regular class while receiving additional instruction on related material for that day’s workout from a designated instructor. IO-R is specifically for the new CrossFitter and provides additional instruction on the movements found in the WOD for that day, as well as instruction on over 35 common movements found in CrossFit, nutritional foundations and scaling instruction. IO-R is open to any member who would like additional instruction on specific movements not provided in the daily WOD warm-up and Points of Performace portions of class. IO-R is free for all members and individuals are welcome to stay in this program as long as they would like. If you are unable to attend classes designated as IO-R, do not worry. The majority of our classes have two coaches on the floor at all times. We do this specifically to assist the beginners in learning movements and scaling the workout appropriately for their own level of fitness.
